What is PeP?

The Patriots for Economic Progress or PeP in short is a political party that was registered under the Societies Act, Cap 119 on 6th October 2016 by President Sean Tembo and 10 other Party officials. The Party was founded on the basis of four key principles of Patriotism, Accountability, Competence and Courage. The Party believes that an effective opposition must be sincere and objective in the discharge of its mandate of providing alternative solutions to national problems on one hand, and providing checks and balances on the Government of the day, on the other hand. With regard to the responsibility of providing alternative solutions to national problems, the Patriots for Economic Progress remains the only opposition political party that has been consistently and continuously developing annual PeP Alternative National Budgets for the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The PeP Alternative National Budgets have been offering written documented guidance of how a PeP Government will manage the affairs of Zambia, once entrusted with state power. It is our blueprint. On the other hand, PeP has been very effective in providing checks and balances to the Government of the day. Among other activities that the Party has undertaken since 2016 includes organizing peaceful protests against the evident corruption in the procurement of 42 second hand fire engines at an exaggerated price of $1 million (K14.5 million) each. To this effect, the Party has undertaken a total of 13 peaceful protests out of a total of 42 planned peaceful protests. These activities among others are evidence enough that the Party is committed to discharging its responsibilities as an effective opposition political party in terms of alternative solutions to national problems as well as sound and sober checks and balances, to the Government of the day.

As a relatively new entrant onto the Zambian political landscape, President Sean Tembo has not accumulated excess baggage in the form of political loans and promises to party funders, and will therefore have no motivation to engage in corruption once in office, as a means of recouping funds spent on campaigns for the past decades.
